Art In the Park Update!

Learn about out exciting project! Talk with the artist and see his work! Try your hand at sculpting! Spend time with your friends and neighbors! Despite the passage of almost two years since our Neighborhood was awarded funding for an art installation in Overton Park, your TNA team and Eliseo the artist have continued this endeavor. The Fort Worth City Council approved funding of $50,000 for this Community ID program towards the end of last year and Eliseo selected the stone in January. Our Art Committee met with Eliseo to view the stone and review the design concepts. The Tanglewood Neighborhood Association will be “Rolling to the Rock” on Sunday, May 2, to visit Eliseo’s studio in Dallas. All interested parties are welcome to attend. We will be gathering at his studio at 2:00 p.m. You will get to see the work in process and Eliseo will discuss his process and inspiration for his work. You will even have the opportunity to try your hand at sculpting on this and sample pieces of limestone. Our sculpture will be installed this summer in the open area just south of Bellaire between the East and West Overton Park Drives. We are hoping for an unveiling to coincide with our annual July 4th Parade. Don’t wait until then to see this spectacular enhancement to our neighborhood. Plan to join us as we Roll to the Rock on May 2nd. Here are directions: Take I-30 East to Dallas Take I-35 North upon entering Dallas Exit at Oak Lawn Avenue and turn West (left) under the freeway and continue a few blocks Turn North (right) on Irving Blvd and Take the third left onto Express Street Eliseo's studio is on the left near the end of the street (# 120).
